Riding the School Bus
Riding the school bus is a privilege, and all students are expected to follow the rules to ensure everyone's safety. Below are the key rules for maintaining bus-riding privileges:
- Be on Time: Arrive at your assigned bus stop at least five minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. The bus will wait only three minutes before moving to the next stop.
- Respect Others: Always show respect to fellow students and the bus driver.
- Remain Seated: Stay seated during the ride. Keep the aisle and exits clear.
- Be Courteous: Avoid using foul language or making obscene gestures.
- Safety First: Keep all body parts inside the bus, and do not distract the driver.
- No Food or Drinks: Eating and drinking are not allowed on the bus.
- Prohibited Items: Tobacco, alcohol, and drugs are strictly prohibited. If a driver suspects a student is under the influence, they will report the incident immediately.
- Avoid Damaging the Bus: Students and their families are responsible for any damage caused to the bus.
Bus Change Requests
If a student needs to ride a different bus temporarily, a parent or guardian must request a temporary bus pass.
To request a pass:
- Contact the School: Call Pueblo Pintado Community School by 11:00 a.m. on the same day.
- Submit a Note: Students must bring a note signed by their parent or guardian to give to the bus driver before boarding. For safety reasons, please follow up with the school to see if the driver or administration got the note by calling the school.
Transportation Cancellation Due to Inclement Weather
In case of bad weather, the school may decide to delay or cancel the start of school entirely. Decisions will be made by 5:30 a.m. and communicated via local radio and TV stations and automated messages through Remind and Everbridge.
- Delayed Start: Buses will run two hours later than usual if school is delayed.
- School Closure: Bus service will be canceled for the day if school is closed.
