Pueblo Pintado Community School prepares kindergarten through eighth-grade students for proficiency in all levels of reading, language arts, science, and math. Our holistic curriculum serves residential and non-residential day students within a Navajo Language and Culture learning environment. We are a five-day operation, opening on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. and closing on Friday mornings at 9:00 a.m. Our home living program staff provides weekly lesson plans for residential students on these four components:

  1. Diné Culture/Language
  2. Recreation
  3. Health/Safety (Wellness)
  4. Study hour/Tutoring

One residential staff member is assigned to help with the bus route to the school on Sunday afternoons and the bus route back home on Friday afternoons. The morning schedule begins promptly at 6:00 a.m. when residential staff reports to work, waking students to begin their daily routine. Residential students prepare for the school day by contributing to the order and cleanliness of the residential home living program.

Before breakfast, roll call, and attending class, students complete personal and community responsibilities, such as room cleaning, personal hygiene maintenance, and wearing dress code-compliant attire. The staff work together to present lessons to the residential students. Staff also develops a monthly activity calendar to show students and parents what’s coming up.

Residential students benefit from one hour of Structure Study Time every day with extra study time available to any students failing a class. One hour of Structure Physical Activity a day provides structured participation in sports like volleyball, cross country, basketball, softball, and baseball. Native language and cultural activities follow lesson plans and the wellness program.
